![]() ![]() Overall, a solid 7/10.Gaskette is a taxi from the 1920's to 30's but grayscale due to being in a cartoon, his headlights act like irises, he has 2 pie cutout eyes, he supports razor sharp teeth in his mouth, checkers on his door and a sign labeled "TAXI" on top of him. Great game but struggles with some cheap jumpscares, that don't build up too much tension, an alright combat system, but a unique, original, and bizarre world that is fun to explore and learn more about. Everything else about the gameplay is fine, it doesn't excel at anything in particular, but it can be fun. Definitely, the weakest aspect of the dark revival is its gameplay. The combat is kinda sluggish, but not bad, and the puzzles are decent. Gameplay: The only problems I have with it are the overuse of hiding, and the stealth sections either being too easy or just kinda boring. Sadly this game isn't as iconic as the original in certain story beats and segments, so it isn't great, but it is pretty good. ![]() The villains are great however, it is kind of fun having villains be utterly evil without them having to be super deep, it allows for a fun simplicity to them that makes you like them more. That moment was written well, but how it happened feels a bit.off. Other than that, however, the story isn't done as well as it could have been, as the best part of the entire story, almost feels forced, and completely random. ![]() The story in this game is far more intriguing and far darker than the original, with a story more focused on the world and how it works, along with a couple of key characters. Story: There will be no story spoilers here, so don't worry too much. There are good things and bad things about this game, so let's talk about the different things this game does, and how well it does them. This easily is the best Indie game of 2022 and it's not even close.Ī fantastic sequel, with some surprising moments that will take the player off-guard, especially if you played the original game, or just loved the world behind it. In BATDR you just get some stupid icon and you have to hide or else you die. The only thing I liked better in the first game more than this is the fact that the Ink Demon actually chases you. The boss fights are fun and much better than BATIM. The stealth is slow and lost ones find you a little too easily. Although I'd argue that the limit to only being able to use the gent pipe is a mild letdown. Combat is greatly improved and is much less janky. The story is fantastic and those who are new to the studio won't have a hard time catching up and knowing what's going on, while returning players will be very pleased. Easily could've won game of the year if the release was more hyped. While the development was hell and the game was supposed to come out in 2019, this is one of those games that is nearly perfect. Awesome game overall□īendy and the Dark Revival is the rare time that a sequel improves upon the original. The developers,in my opinion, did an amazing job at making major story revalations, while setting up new questions and misteries. She actually fells alive, while Henry was always kinda monotonous. I will give say that the new protagonist is better than the last one. The animation, while kinda stiff sometimes(at the begining especially), is gorgeous. It has a very horrific and creepy atmosphere and I love it. The artstyle is pretty much the same as the first one, but the entire game looks so much better because of the BEAUTIFUL lighting. You can explore hidden areas and come back to old ones with better abilities. In the dark revival however, you have a pseudo open world. Some parts are tedious, boring and repetetive. While I was a massive fan of the first game (bendy and the ink machine), the game still had some flaws. Unlike some of the other horror game sequels that came out recently (FNAF:security breach) this game has not only managed to meet my expectations, but in some elements also subverted them. ![]()
